What results should I expect?

Conventional treatments, which include
shaving, waxing, tweezing, and depilatory creams, are temporary fixes
which are often inconvenient, messy, and irritating to the skin.
Electrolysis can have good results but it is time-consuming (treating
only one follicle at a time), often painful, and is useful only in
removing hair in small areas. We use the Lumenis LightSheer™ Diode
Laser System providing a gentle, non-invasive, permanent solution to
unwanted hair.

The LightSheer™ is the latest generation of
diode laser. This state-of-the-art technology operates at the
optimal wavelength of light that is best absorbed by the hair shaft and
follicle while protecting the surrounding tissue from heat damage.
The laser emits a focused beam of concentrated light-based energy that
bypasses most components of the skin to target the melanin pigment at
the base of the hair follicle. This energy heats, damages
and destroys the regrowth potential of the follicle. Approximately
100-200 hair follicles can be treated with each pulse of the laser.

Hair grows in cycles and for optimal results,
the follicle must be in its active, growing phase. The number of
treatments required also depends on several factors related to specific
skin types and color, thickness and density of hair. Several
treatments, (typically 6 to 8), are necessary to achieve the best
results.

Subsequent sessions are scheduled when the
hair begins to regrow. This ranges from
4
to 8 weeks, depending on the hair type and the body area treated.

Yes, the LightSheer™ technology is safe and
effective on all skin types. Any hair with at least some pigment
can be treated.

The appearance of the treated area
immediately following treatment will vary from patient to patient
depending on the extent of the procedure and patient’s skin type.
The desired clinical result is some swelling and redness around the
treated hair follicles indicating a response to the treatment.
This reaction typically disappears within several hours. On rare
occasions, pinpoint bruising and blistering may occur, but this
typically resolves quickly. The skin can also hyperpigment or
hypopigment following treatment but will generally return to normal
within a few weeks. Limiting sun exposure before and after each
treatment will minimize the risk of complications.

A permanent reduction in the number of
regrowing hairs is usually achieved following each treatment.
Scientific studies show that the use of targeted, light-based energy
actually damages or destroys hair follicles at the cellular level.
The LightSheer™ Laser System is FDA-cleared for the PERMANENT reduction
of unwanted hair.
